Piccoli Fiori JMJ
Welcome to phatmass! I hope you have a wonderful time while you are here! Now, you've got a pretty tough choice right there! My advice: Pray, Pray, Pray. He will let you know what He desires of you. Go to daily Mass, go to adoration often, recieve the sacrament of confession often as well. Other than that, put it all into God's hands and do some spiritual reading on the side. Have you visited the communities?
brendan1104
The Discalced Carmelites (whom I've been discerning with for the past three years) have abandoned their contemplative charism, and are now active priests. They wear their habits for Mass, Office, and their apostolate, don't have any horarium or schedule, and their liturgies are terrible. However, if you're called to authentic contemplative Carmelite life (with some apostolate for the priests) check out this amazing community! They live just as St. John of the Cross did. They're called the Carmelite Monks, they've been around for three years and their history is really interesting. I'm probably gonna enter them. AlterDominicus
Speaking of Discalaced, I was inspired by 7 Spanish/English subtitles episodes called Teresa of Jesus (Saint Theresa of Avilia) To write a story called "Discalced Dominicans" Staring = Mother Mary Rosarium the Mother Prioress Sister Veritas Dominic the Mother Vicar (And to be later the founder of the Discalced Dominicans) Sister Adel the Novice Sister Michael the Novice Mistress Sister Dominique member of the council Reverend Archbishop Tosona Archbishop of (trying to think where) Anyway...I have four pages to type, I'm sort of stuck right now, but if you want to check it our "Discalced" let me know and I'll PM you the "Story So Far" LOL. All For Jesus
Welcome to Phatmass...as for advice, I'm afraid I won't be much help. The Franciscans of the Primative Observance- Are they the ones who branched off the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal? The vocation to Carmel is also very beautiful.- Keep praying and place your trust in God.

benedictaj
Discalced Dominicans?? I've never heard of such a thing. Explain please!!
There is no such thing. There was a story of a Dominican nun who wanted to be disclaced, you know, kick off her shoes. She asked the Superior general and was almost kicked out of the Order. Dominicans don't do discalced! Sr Mary Imelda of the Holy Eucharist told me about it. It has most probably got something to do with the fact that Dominicans are very learned, so having bare feet kind of lowers the idea..... They also dont have the emphasis on poverty that Franciscans have, and St Dominic didn't agree with St Francis in the beginning.... hope this helps Edited December 14, 2005 by memtherose
