photosynthesis
I loved the Maurice Sendak books, especially Where the Wild Things Are and In the Night Kitchen. Maurice Sendak was actually my college's graduation speaker about 2 years ago... He was excellent! Yertle the Turtle was always my favorite book when I was a toddler. My mom said it was my favorite bedtime story, and that she used to cringe whenever I would ask her to read it to me, because it was such a long children's book and usually she was so tired from chasing me around the house all day! the Secret Garden, Anne of Green Gables, Little Women, Heidi and Little House on the Prairie were some of my favorites... and I loved Ramona and Amelia Bedilia. For awhile I read the Baby Sitters' Club books... but then it started to get old. Roald Dahl's books were good too... and I am scarred for life because a few years ago I was at a garage sale and I found a bunch of OTHER books he'd written. it turns out that Dahl also had a passion for writing erotica books I also liked Bridge to Terabithia and Jacob Have I Loved by Katherine Paterson. missionseeker
I liked the first few :"Little House on The Prarie" books. I LOVED L.M. Montgomery and Louisa May Alcott. The "Anne of Windy Poplars", though I didn't like when I was in third or fourth grade. I thought it would have been way more interesting if Gilbert had replied. lol "Eight Cousins" and "Rose in Bloom". "Old Fashioned Girl" and "Little Women" "Little Men" and "Jo's Boys" I've read like five times. Then I kind of stopped reading what I liked cuz my school had this program A.R. (accelerated Reading) for kids who don't like to read. you take a test and then you read whatever books are on your grade level and then take a test for points. Ten points a month and you get a feild trip. (I tested way above my GRADE level and so I didn't read what I liked cuz you were only allowed to read what was on your grade level) If you didn't take a certain number of tests, you failed reading. Stupid program. But I loved "The Adventures of Dr. Doolittle" I think that's the name.

annie
Anyone read "The Clown of God" by Tomie DePaola? My dtr loved that book, and I bawled every time I read it to her. My oldest wanted to be the 'Giving Tree' for Halloween one year! I put over 100 felt leaves on a brown sweatshirt, attached plastic apples, she wore brown pants and a hat made out of felt leaves. So cute!
