Piccoli Fiori JMJ
Chicka-Chicka Boom Boom was a classic... I remember loving the boxcar children and we still have quite a set. I also got into Animorphs when I was older but I never did get into the Goosebumps thing... Dr. Suess was great too! I think my favorite was Go, Dog, Go! Sojourner
The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle? I discovered books by Chris Van Allsburg when I worked in the children's section of our library one summer -- this is the guy who wrote "Jumanji" and "Zathura." He's got several interesting, beautifully illustrated books.

My personal favorite Dr. Seuss story is "What Was I Afraid Of" about the empty green pants.

And our Children's Theater did a production which we went to see. It was really fun.
shortnun
Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle books. man i love that woman. i still have those books, too. read them a lot too.
Oh she was fabulous. I also read all the Ramona books (Beverely Cleary) and most of the Judy Blume books. Little Women ranks near the top of my list, but I consider that more of an adolescent book than a children's book. And I love all the 'If you give a.... (pig/pancake, moose/muffin, mouse/cookie, etc)' books. And, The Giving Tree. My little sister and I had a pile of 'Christmas only' books, and we got to get them out on December 5 (after my Dad's bday on the 4th), and we could have them out until Epiphany. The Polar Express is a beautiful book I still like to go home and read them. <insert moment of nostalgia here>

Sojourner
Ooo, I loved The Secret Garden. I read that one more than once, I'm sure. And I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier -- Anne of Green Gables. I read EVERY Lucy Maude Montgomery book ever written, I think.
