Church Allegiances

Should churches fly the American flag? Should they fly the Vatican flag as well? If yes to both, which flag is placed in the higher honor?

my parish back home has an American flag on one side of the sanctuary, and a Vatican flag on another side.

there is both a vatican flag and an american flag in my church. i think it important that we recognize our country but we can never forget Rome. technically there are laws about which can fly higher but in my opinion, two flags on the same length poles (not necessarily flying high outside) is cool.

I believe the GIRM and the "Built on Living Stones" documents both talk about this. I know that an American flag is permitted.

i'm talking about flying the flag outside, not inside.

I am against any flags in churches, with the possible exception of some days when thanksgiving for the country is a focus. Membership of the Church is not a national thing and there is no flag for the Body of Christ.

Not really although I wouldn't go to the barracades over it. I think that the Papal Flag is the flag of the Vatican City State although I could be mistaken. As I said I'm just against national flags in a place of worship but I wouldn't have a fit over it. :
