scardella
Since I like to boogie, I was wondering if anyone else did. Add what kind of dancing you like... I'm a big fan of swing and merengue. I can hack only salsa and cha cha. I wish I remember some of my ballroom stuff. (Anyone wanna come to Louisiana to take a class with me?) StCollette, sometime you'll have to bring Raphael to NO and we could go Cajun dancing.... I also like slow dancing like from high school... I'm not so much into DDR or club stuff, though. I remember my household in college used to have a dance-off against another household at the formal dances, and that was really fun. The only thing I really don't like is line dancing It killed country couple dancing! (like the Texas 2 step...)

photosynthesis
Dancers here at Goucher are too competitive, but it's funny to watch the ballerinas and the modern dancers try to boogie on the dance floor. it just doesn't look right. I don't dance. I don't like drawing attention to myself.

photosynthesis
There are humans, and then there are dancers... it's like they're a different species. My old roommate was a ballerina, and she was constantly contorting her body in various positions. I'd be having a conversation with her, and often she'll begin to twist her ankle around her neck, or she'll start hopping around the room. Or I'll be telling her about how it's NOT OK to use my toothbrush even though she can't find her own, and she'll be choreographing a piece. Musicians around here tend to resent dancers, because dancers only see music as something to dance to, and not something that can (and sometimes should!) be enjoyed on its own. I always get a little annoyed when I see dance companies choreographing pieces that were not composed for dancing, such as Masses and church music. philothea
Used to dance a lot, but nothing formal, just club/party stuff. Since I got married and moved to the middle of nowhere, all I do is exercise-style dance, and that in my living room by myself I was pretty good, back when. Husband has recently expressed interest in learning formal dancing, so as to be an all-around cultured gentleman. We have not yet pursued this. tojo
I was Pentecostal, I only ever used to dance in church as a form of worship (and boy it is amazing, let me tell you!). Anyways, now that I don't dance at church (since it is Mass for me now) I'm starting to take advamtage of being allowed to dance elsewhere. I'm into an Afro-Brazilian martial art called capoeira which is related to break dancing, and I also just began to learn the samba (which is also Brazilian), but I'm not good at it at all yet.
