Have you ever stared death in the face?

Tonight at my job I was in a life or death situation. I literally stared death in the eyes, time stood still. An employee was upset with the new scehdule; I asked of for Saturday, and he did too, I got it off, so he has to work, and I took one of his days during the week. No reason to kill someone right?

He takes the knife that we use at work, now it is a big long knife, pins me up in the corner and puts the knife right at my throat. He said something like "You know how quickly I can end your life" or something, I really didn't hear what he was saying. All I was thinking about was my life, what I did wrong, what I could have done better, I thought about my future, my future as a lawyer, the future I could have with my wife whom God would choose for me, the future that I couldn't have with my offspring.

I stared death in the eye, and my life flashed before me. Luckily someone decided to come in and get the new schedule right at the momment he had the knife right up against my throat and ready to bring it across. Luckily he stopped it, locked him in a room and called the police. Luckily I am still alive and unharmed.

It turns out his wife just left him, his brother died, he hadn't been taking his medication and was drunk. I don't intend on pursuing any charges but pray that he may reform his life and come to see Christ and his Church.

I just keep thinking, I could be dead right now, if by the grace of God someone didn't come in at the momment death was imminent.

God must have some plan for me hey?

Yup, he has many more plans for you that he wants you to know that he has you here for a reason. :) thanks for sharing your story.

Yikes, I really hope that your coworker gets the help he needs. Stress can sometimes make monsters out of people, making them act irrational.

well I'd thought I'd been to the edge until I read your story...that definitely takes the prize. Praise God....

It's impressive that you're already calm enough about it to write this post and talk about not pressing charges!

Eeeeek!

(shiver)

Well, I've had people in the car next to me point a gun in my direction. I don't know what they were thinking, or if it was even real, but I ignored them and they left me alone. It was a bit nervewracking though! And once I was moments away from killing myself.

But nothing so exciting as your experience. Wow. Thanks for sharing it with us. I imagine it was very life changing!

Parishner, IT IS YOUR DUTY TO PRESS CHARGES!!!!

This guy is dangerous, unstable, and could hurt someone else. This may be the chance to get him off the streets. It will serve as paper trail in case the wife needs to file a restraining order against him, or in case he tries to sue your employer.

It's nice to be merciful to the criminal, but there is also a responsibility to the rest of society as well.

And BTW, I've been threatened with a knife in a domestic situation by the family drunk, so I've been in your shoes.
