The early bands' music began as kind of a stripped down amped-up heavy imitation of the blues (i.e. Led Zeppelin), but in spirit, and eventually in sound, it became something totally different. Countercultural Brits of the '60s/70s saw "Negro music" as something subversive, and quickly changed it to their own ends. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
