MC Just
"And Mary said, ‘My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden. For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed; for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name’" (Luke 1:46-49). Magnify: 1 a : EXTOL, LAUD b : to cause to be held in greater esteem or respect 2 a : to increase in significance : INTENSIFY b : EXAGGERATE 3 : to enlarge in fact or in appearance intransitive senses : to have the power of causing objects to appear larger than they are I don't know about the protestants who say we worship Mary but, Catholics are so lucky to have such a wonderful being in their lives. She magnifies the Lord, which means with her we see Jesus in a larger and more clearer perspective. If the BLESSED Virgin Mary aint in your life you better grab a rosary and start praying. MC Just
I guess the fact that her soul magnifies the Lord means absolutely nothing to the Non- Catholic Christians claiming honor to her takes the focus off of Christ. Come on now, what's the Family without the Mother?? Mary is always bringing us straight to Christ, never does it take the focus off of Christ. Jake Huether
WORD - Pal. When a scientist looks at a complex organism under a magnifying lens, is he looking at the lens? To an extent, YES. In that, his eyes technically are directed at the lens. Yet the lens focuses his eyes’ vision on the image of the magnified object. And to get more technical… When he looks through a magnifying glass, he isn’t actually looking at the Object. He is looking at the image of the object. The magnified image. It is a real image of the Object. But the position of the image isn’t at the same position as the object. Since we can’t see a one-celled organism with our bare eyes, we need the magnified image to understand its details. By looking at the magnifying lens the object is brought to us, rather than us shrinking down in order to see it. Without this lens we could never understand the details and complexity of a single-celled organism. So we can say that magnification isn’t simply the enlarging or increasing of the size or significance of an object. inDouche without a magnifying lens we would know next to NOTHING about much of the microscopic world. We look at Mary the same way. We look not just at her, but through her. And she magnifies her Son. Her Son, though fully human, was fully God. Could our sinful souls stand to look directly at the creator of the universe! St. John fell prostrate as if DEAD at the sight of an Angel (not even God). We cannot look at the Object (God). We must look at the image (which is at another location – so to speak). Moreover, can we understand the complexity of the Object? We cannot INCREASE to be able to see the details of God. So an “image” of God must be “brought to us”. In this sense the magnification of God doesn’t “increase” the complexity of God. It brings us the details of God more clearly. I could go on with the explanation of how Mary is our magnifying lens. But suffice it to say: without looking through her to her Son, we can know a very limited amount about the “details” of Jesus. Thanks for this post, MC Just!
God Conquers
additionally, in order to magnify an object of perfection, the lense must be equally perfect, or the image we get is distorted. In the same way, Mary, in order to magnify a God who can not sin, must herself be sinless.
