jiyoung
You're worried about whether it sent the wrong message...sending the wrong message wouldn't be a sin. If you're generally an affectionate person, it probably wouldn't send any sort of message. My culture, on the other hand, dictates not having much, if any, physical affection, and so even hand-holding is something serious. If he understood how you felt, though, then you should have no worries about it.
toledo_jesus
I wouldn't see holding one another and dancing as a sin... however, depending on who you are and the degree of passion, it could be a near occasion of sin.
the question is if that action even constitutes dancing. I posit that it does not. It's simply hugging and swaying to music. That isn't dancing... I think dancing does something to your brain that makes you flighty, narcissistic and anorexic. that's how all the dancers are at my college not to be mean or anything but I don't want to be like that. Proud2BCatholic139
No, I agree, you didn't do anything wrong. Don't let yourself think that. Pray for your friendship. God will show you the way.

Totus Tuus
I would go with the suggestion to talk to a priest about it in Confession. He can place it before God as God sees it, and since you are repentant assuming it was a sin, you will be absolved. I think if you're feeling a bit guilty you should definitely talk to the priest in confession about it. God bless!

The ones I know eat alot, the reason they look so thin is cause of all the dancing they do and physical activity. sometimes you just have to put a limit on your comfort. There are bubbles in this world and its different for every different relationship of yours. i seem to have a very strong large bubble with almost everybody

beatty07
This is such a tricky area. I'm a seminarian so I try to be extra-special careful. Most of the time I just dance with cousins and aunts and stuff at weddings, but in more social settings it can be awkward. We don't wanna give the impression that being disciples of Christ means we're sticks-in-the-mud, that's a scandal too, in a way! When female friends want to dance with me, I usually wait for a song that I can swing or two-step. That way it's easy to control things. And it seems that headbanging to ACDC with the youth group at their convention got me some serious street cred.
