Being Catholic to me also means trying to limit the evil that runs amuck in this country.

Pro-Life isn't saying that one life is more valuable than another, but do you think Gore would've allowed that? No. Life is precious, but since the PBA was banned, we are finally moving forward to banning ALL abortion, one law at a time.

Being truely Pro-Life is defending natural death Womb-to-Tomb not just cute little babies

Rightly said, but sadly this belief is not shared by all professing pro-lifers.

To be brief, we consider the abortion to be a worse punishment than anyone deserves. What we want is to see the abortionists in jail, where they belong. Anybody who pulls the arms and legs off babies for money should not be allowed to walk the streets. Note that we don't suggest that abortionists be executed. Pro-lifers disagree about whether the government should kill criminals at all. What pro-lifers agree on is that nobody should kill babies, in or out of the womb.~Priests for Life

But I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child, a direct killing of the innocent child, murder by the mother herself. And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another?

Many people are also concerned about all the violence in this great country of the United States. These concerns are very good. But often these same people are not concerned with the millions who are being killed by the deliberate decision of their own mothers. And this is what is the greatest destroyer of peace today - abortion which brings people to such blindness.

~ Blessed Mother Teresa

Abortion is the starting place for defending all life. Until abortion is stopped, life will never be upheld in the dignity it deserves.

Abortion=4,000 dead every day.

September 11, 2001=approx. 3,000.

I'm not downplaying the tragic events of 9-11-01, but more people are murdered every day by the evil of abortion than were murdered by the evil of 19 insane terrorists.

I don't have the time nor the energy right now to get into why abortion is a trump issue over the death penalty (I don't favor the DP BTW.) Suffice it to say for now that it should be obvious that killing an innocent baby is a worse crime against humanity than is killing a serial killer.

Democrats=Pro-Abortion

Bush=Ex-Gov. of the execution capital of the country

That's why I'm an Independant.

Ummm . . . do you have an idea how the legal system works? The governor does not order the death penalty, judges and juries do. In Texas the governor can't even pardon people on Death Row, nor can he commute their sentences. According to State Law, all the governor can do is delay their death by 30 days. That's it.

Now, that being said, it has never been the tradition of the Church that those who are guilty of crimes cannot be put to death. In fact, she has fiercely defended the right of the state to promote justice and defend society even through the execution of criminals. She has also seen this be abused and too freely applied. The Holy Father has been careful not to say that capital punishment was immoral but to suggest to the United States, in order to promote life, to use other means to redress the evils committed by criminals.

It is not a sin to support capital punishment. Capital punishment is not the murder of an innocent. It is a means of self-defense used by the state to safeguard its security.

That being said. I oppose the use of capital punishment and I even keep vigil (or used to before I moved to Texas) outside of prisons on the night that they execute a criminal. However, I am clear to say that although the state may have the right to execute criminals, I think it should refrain from exercising the right since there are other, bloodless means, that are available to the same end, which is the protection of the common good and retributive justice.

Priest's for Life is a great organization, but they have disappointed me in their stance or silence of non-abortion pro-life issues. The Church has spoken on things like capital punishment.

Blazer...Bush is a big proponent of the death penalty. I do know something about politics thank you. Bush said things like the DP is deterant to crime which is a common myth, but not true.

Just my opinion. Guess I'm getting off topic.

Without getting into a heated debate, isn't the mortal sin of committing murder equally damnable? To the human eye it is worse to murder an innocent baby, but doesn't God love every human unconditionally despite if they are innocent babies or convicts?

it is for the defenseless unborn children who are being murdered daily from the mother's womb that life is being uiltmately distroyed......

and until the world recognizeds life in the earliest form will we ever truly have the dignity of life upheld in our society.

how can we be surprised of killings, murders and of crime, when in america its legal to kill an unborn child from the womb?

everything begins and ends with abortion.

it is the root of all.

after standing vigil outside of abortion clinics, and seeing how "accepted" it is to kill unborn children, its clear that nothing compares to the greatest evil that abortion is.

im glad for priestsforlife who are the ppl, who like blessed mother teresa , firmly believe and know, taking action on it, that abortion is the starting point if we ever wish to achieve and uphold life like we need to.

the methods, whether itsSuction Curettage Abortion (the vaccum method, body part by body part from the womb) , Dilatation and Evacuation (D & E) (using forceps to pull the baby out, again part by part), or any other procedure....(such as the intake of harmful salts, etc that slowly kills the child by poisoning, etc.)

the procedures of abortion are what make it so evil then any thing ever....and not only the procedures but the place that it takes place to kill the unborn child.

from the womb.

if we can do that, anything can be allowed.

Just my opinion.Ā  Guess I'm getting off topic.

Bush may be a proponent of the death penalty, but I'm pointing out that it has nothing to do with being the Governor of Texas. So whether you know about politics or not is irrelevant. I was pointing out a matter of fact and logic.

Second, if you think that Priests for Life has been silent about non-abortion pro-life issues, then you don't know very much about Priests for Life. Check out their webpage www.priestsforlife.org and see that Fr. Frank has been active in various pro-life issues including attending a Peace March in New York City.

However, Priests for Life has made it clear, reiterating what Mother Teresa told Fr. Frank that "all efforts to defend life are futile while children are being murdered by abortion." Priests for Life has made it very clear that the primary issue facing our culture is not the execution of a some couple hundred criminals every year but the senseless murder of 4,000 innocent children every day.

bush is also one of the few who are willing to put a stop to abortion.

through him millions of innocent babies can be saved from this horrific crime.

Didn't a governor eliminate or stop the execution of a death row prisoner when JPII personally asked that governor to intervene? Even if this is the law, governors still have the obligation to intervene if the person being executed has not been completely cleared of innocence. Why would you go to an execution vigil outside a prison if you believe the state has not sinned in it's quest to insure security for the public, I would personally like to know why?

You forgot to mention the little known Saline Method where the baby in burned inside out. I had to watch all of these on video as a junior pro-life religion requirement in high school.

I wasn't trying to downplay the horrors of abortion, but I ask the question if murder is murder in God's eyes - all equally damnable to hell to the unrepentant person(s) responsible and accountable.

Just like I feel acountable when my money goes towards contaceptives and abortion in charity donations, I also feel partially responsible if my tax dollars are paying for the executions of possibly innocent people.

Governors from different states have different laws they have to abide by. I was just pointing out what the law is in Texas. Governors from other states may or may not have the authority to pardon or commute.
