Jaime
15 year old Katelyn Sills was a student at Loretto High School.(An all girls Catholic school in Sacramento CA) She found out yesterday that she is now expelled. Why? The details have not been released yet. However Katelyn's mother brought to the attention of the school board that the drama teacher was a volunteer at Planned Parenthood just prior to working at the high school. The teacher was summarily dismissed for not adhering to Catholic teachings. How is Katelyn involved? The young woman has talked about the issue in her blog. When she revealed that it was her mother that first brought to light the past of the drama teacher, her blog received hundreds upon hundreds of responses You can (and should) read about it at her site This is definitely something that I want to keep an eye on. If she was expelled for what her mother did or because she blogged about it, that is not right.

daugher-of-Mary
Wow. Unbelievable. The girl is VERY well-spoken though, and charitable, considering the criticism she is receiving.

Sojourner
I'm very interested to see how this will all pan out. It's a story that really needs to get out in mainstream media outlets so it can become part of the larger national dialogue on this issue.
Proud2BCatholic139
What is this world coming too? I go to a public high school, and most of my teachers dispise me because I express my Catholic views. Then I end up proving them wrong, then they get mad at me. It's awesome!!! zabbazooey
It's so sad that a "Catholic" school expels a girl for standing up for her faith.
tojo
Who can we right to and complain? I, and most of us, don't live in that diocese, does our opinion as American Catholics matter at all?

They say they welcome comments and questions.
