Goth-what is your concept of it?
I think this is very far-reaching... "Goth" is a lifestyle that is actually very good for someone in my opinion... It shows individuality, and you gain confidence in yourself.  Like I said before, the "goths" at my high school when I was there were some of my best friends, and that was because they knew you they really were, and weren't afraid to show it.

Speaking as an "old fogie" here, but how exactly is the "Goth lifestyle" good for someone? I'm not saying that all "goths" are evil, or that good people can't be "goths," but I personally see nothing positive in the goth look or "lifestyle" itself.

The "goth" style glorifies ugliness and death, and as others have noted, is often tied to the occult. It can be a short slide from goth pre-occupations to involvement in genuine evil.
Does "goth" really reflect the glory of God and the true, good and, beautiful?

I am not condoning "preppy" materialism, but surely there are plenty of other ways to show individuality, and gain confidence in yourself besides running around decked out like a ghoul or vampire, and obsessing about death and the occult.
If these kids are "expressing individuality," why do they feel compelled to adopt the same look and style of everyone else in the "goth' crowd?
If they want to "be themselves," why dye their hair black and put on makeup to look like a corpse? If this is indeed "how they really are," this is a truly sad statement!

Goth is at best a ridiculous, ugly, and silly pose, at worst evil.
Basically seems to be a bunch of oh-so-angst-ridden kids saying, "look at me! I'm a monster!"
Symptoms include odd perceptions, belief that one possesses magic powers or can control people and things with one's mind, extreme sensitivity to and interest in the paranormal and accompanying phenomena,

Interesting. What beliefs did you have about yourself that involved the paranormal, if you don't mind me asking...?

Well I believed (and I'm still kind of wondering if) I'm clairvoyant. It's a long story with many details, but it seems to be true.

There were other smaller things that had a lot to do with Wicca and belief in the powers of the moon and stuff, but that was all just craziness.

Well...if you have the time to write, I have the time to read. Paranormal things intrigue me. I disbelieve most of the stuff that's out there, but believe some to be true. My dad swears that ESP is possible....had some experiences in college.

What have you encountered to make you believe that you have such abilities?

Well, I don't mean to hijack the thread, but oh well, private messenging is being stupid, so either you won't get the PM I sent, or you'll get like 7 of them. Here's what I said:

"Well, all my life I've been extremely perceptive when it comes to things like the future and people's thoughts and emotions, etc. My mom tells me that when I was little I would tell her things like 'grandma wants to talk to you' and then the phone would ring and it would be my grandma, or I'd answer the door before people would even ring the doorbell. I constantly have deja vu, like 10 times a day, often to the point where I can say other people's sentences while they're saying them because I know what's coming next. My mom seems to be clairvoyant as well. My uncle died suddenly a few years ago, and my mom woke up sobbing at what was later decided to be the same time that my uncle passed away. I have deja vu dreams, dreams with feelings of deja vu in them that end up happening a week or so later. And one instance in particular makes me wonder... I saw a freshman girl in the hall last year, and I walked up and said 'hey Alyssa!' She looked at me with a way weird expression and asked if she knew me. It turns out that there's no way I could have met her as she'd just moved, yet I knew details about her such as her full name, her interests, her family, etc. Now, I don't know what to make of things like this, and it has faded slightly since I was a child, but still. I guess that's what you get for being the daughter of a schizophrenic psycho :idontknow: :topsy: "

Sorry for such an incoherent and vague response, I'm extremely tired. If you wish, I can fill you in on some more specific things later. God bless!

you only need to click the mouse button once, you know

heh

you have some interesting experiences, but my first thought was that some deja vu is explained by brain chemicals....I'm a bit foggy on the details, I'd have to look it up. The other stuff though.....fascinating.
Of course, with the internet, you could completely be a compulsive liar & we'd never know...

*wink*

Errrrr...... no. I very much dislike liars. And yeah, I've heard deja vu explained in many ways, but I don't particularly buy into the explanations. I think Christ works through it a lot, uses it for His own purposes.

Oh yeah, and I only clicked it once, but for some reason the screen that says 'please wait while we transfer you' gets stuck and doesn't transfer me, so I go to my inbox and it appears as though it hadnt sent, so I sent it again. And again. And again. And.... meh. lol.
