I really like Evanescence, but some people say that they are gothic, I don't think so. Some people also say they are or were Christian rock, idk, I can't tell......

It was more profanity laden than that... I read the interview and it was pretty clear that they wanted nothing to do with the Christian music industry. It was pretty clearly a case of some people who had slidden into worldly riches

If I recall correctly, they were dropped by their Christian label when they started cussing to an extreme amount and such. I'd probably be an Evanescence fan if their first big hit didn't have the male rapping, making them sound like a Linkin Park knock off.

Amy Lee (used to) make all her clothes, and I think thats pretty cool!

well, I read that they had started out at a so called "christian" rock band, but they never really worked on it, they drifted away, but I have never ever heard them cuss is a song, ever... lol. I didn't know they ever did. Do you think they're "gothic?" or not the type to listen to? But yes, I think they had slidden into wordly riches....

The cussing refered to is during interviews, etc. Way back I read an enterview in EW where every other word they said was deleted, and they kept joking about how if Christian record stores could here them they'd never sell their stuff.

I thought they broke up.

I think it's sad that being "Christian" is seen as so "uncool," that people in the music industry often seem desperate to disassociate themselves from being Christian (take Scott Stapp and Creed, for instance).
These people all smell of elderberries muscially, though. (Though that Evenesance chick CAN sing).

That's not necessarily true. If I were in a rock band, even though I am a Christian, I'm not so sure that I would want to be labelled a "Christian rock band." The term "Christian rock band" or "Christian musician" leaves an impression in the minds of most people -- that the only thing you're making music about is Jesus or at least Jesus-related stuff. It pigeon-holes you. And it means that, in effect, the only people who would be checking out your stuff are fans of "Christian rock" -- a narrow fanbase, and not a very exciting industry, being as it is 99% evangelical Protestant. I wouldn't want to be a part of that industry either, and it has nothing to do with money.
