MC Just
Hey ya'll I type this up myself. What do you think?? 1.The foundation on which Jesus built his Church Isaiah 22:19-22-Matthew 16:15-19 In the Old Law of Jerusalem the King of the House of David would give all Authority and the Keys to the Kingdom or City of God to a Chief steward or what we would call today the Prime Minister. The Chief steward had Successors, when his office is up or he dies that Authority along with the Keys to the Kingdom or City of God are passed on to a new elected Chief Steward. This is how the Jewish Religion worked. Jesus is a Jew who grew up with the Old Law and he even preached and taught in the Temples. When he was 30 and had followers, disciples and Apostles he created a Church. The word he used was “Ecclesia”. Since Jesus was a Jew he created his Church off of the Jewish religion, he basically fulfilled it. Jesus built his church on Simon whom he later named Peter which in Aramaic means, “Rock”. God is also called rock; the Old Testament refers to God as rock many times. Matthew 16:15-19 says: He said to them “But who do you say I am?” Simon Peter said in reply, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the Living God.” Jesus said to him in reply, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood have not revealed this to you, but my heavenly father. And so I say to you, you are Peter and upon this Rock I will build my Church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give to you the “Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven”. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. As you can see by reading this passage, Jesus gives Peter Authority over his Church along with the Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven. Just like the way things ran in the Old Law, In Isaiah 22: 19-22 we read something similar but about Succession: I will thrust you from your office and pull you down from your station. On that day I will summon my servant Eliakim, son of Hilkiah; I will clothe him with your robe, and gird him with your sash, and give over to him your authority. He shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah. I will place the key of the House of David on his shoulder; when he opens, no one shall shut, when he shuts, no one shall open. This is exactly what happened. Jesus removed all authority from the Jews and gave it to Peter and the Apostles. Peter is the Chief Steward of the Church made by Christ. Peter and the Apostles are the Apostolic Foundation. Peter also known as “Rock” also has successors, meaning all his Apostolic Authority is passed on to another Chief Steward when his office is up or when he dies. Notice that in Isaiah 22:19-22, it says, “He shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem” The Pope is the father of the Inhabitants of the New Jerusalem. The fulfillment of the Old. Pope simply means Father, in Latin it’s Papa. Eliakim was a pope (Father of the inhabitants of Jerusalem) Therefore the Pope is the Chief steward of Jesus’ Church when he shuts no one opens and when he opens no one shuts. We know for a fact that our current Pope John Paul II is Peter’s 264th successor. We have a list with all of Peter’s successors names and dates of their Ruling office. The Catholic Church is the Only Church this Authority and power can be found in. Since the Catholic Church is the New Jerusalem, when the Jews do convert they will without doubt become Catholic because they can recognize the Jewish roots of the Catholic Church. Anti-Catholics claim the Papacy (Office of the Pope and Bishops) is not biblical. It is biblical they just don’t want to submit to it. But they should know that ignorance of scripture is ignorance of Christ. Edited July 19, 2003 by Mc-Just†
Chrysologus
Seems pretty good, but why bother mentioning anti-Catholics? They get more than enough press as it is.
Mary's Knight, La
I was just high-lighting those verses in my bible not too long ago. You are right it is an ignorance of the truth's of scripture that leads one to reject the teachings of the Church. Therefore, you (anyone with an interest in spreading the truth) might want to print this page out and have it handy when our seperated brethren knock on our doors asking to share the message of their faith and ask them why would Jesus use almost the exact same formula(expression) unless He was intending to do just what it sound's like he's doing. Along with this it would help for all to know the word Jesus used when he named Peter, was the aramaic word Kepha, not the greek petros. it was a matter of the gender of the words when translated to greek that led to the difference. The Catholic Faith is like a lion, it does not need anyone to defend it, rather it needs someone to let it out of the cage. - Cant remember who said it

ironmonk
"A little while later Gerry called and said, "Listen, I'm a little scared. My friends are a little scared. We ought to really take this seriously. I talked to Doctor John Gerstner, this Harvard-trained Presbyterian, anti-Catholic theologian . He will meet with us as long as we want." We arranged Gerry, Dr. Gerstner and me for a six hour session, going through the Old Testament in Hebrew, the New Testament in Greek, and the council documents of Church history. At the end of six hours, Gerry and I expected to be completely blown out of the water by this genius. Instead, what we discovered was that the Catholic Church almost doesn't even need a defense. It's more like a lion; just let it out of its cage and it takes care of itself. We just presented the Church's teachings and showed the text in Scripture, and we didn't feel like he had answered a single one of our questions or objections. In the end we were like, "Wow, what does this mean?" Neither of us knew. The most anti-Catholic seminarians wondering whether God might be a Catholic -- we were terrified." http://www.ewtn.com/library/scriptur/scotconv.TXT
