It's a 20th century thing. Some of Faure's stuff sounds beautiful sung that way.

(Think the strings in Appalachian Springs. That's a white tone).

Oooooh!!!

I LOVE Thomas Tallis, esp his "Spem in Alium"!!!
And I love Vivaldi's Gloria in D major (did you know he was a priest?) and Bach....at the moment, in particular his "Magnificat in E flat major"

I quite like Hildegard of Bingen as well.

And Handels Messiah, and so much more.....hehehehehe

Cudos for some great chants!

Can I point out that as I begain to type this post "pie jesus" began to play in media player (had it playing random). Anyway the must beautiful chant that I have heard/sung is "Jesus Rex Admirabilis" It is a poliphonic chant attributed to Palistrina. BTW you can hear it in the Sound of music at the beginning when the nuns are at vespers.

Don't get me started on Gregorian Chants. I have no words to explain how i feel about them honestly. They r soooo guuuuuuuuud.....permeates deeply through my soul. Makes me loose total control of my composure whenever I hear it. I always feel like I'm in a total different world that's very holy. I just cant explain it all, how I feel abt those Chants. :sign:  :woot:
