Era Might
Does the Church have a teaching on these? On one level, I can see how they suggest a utilitarian disregard for marriage. But, at the same time, perhaps they are a valid means to avoid an occasion of sin. We do not know ourselves, or what will become of us in 5 years. Maybe, for whatever reason, you will become a greedy divorcee, thereby sinning grievously. A prenuptial agreement would prevent such a course of action. Maybe your husband will be unfaithful, and you will respond by taking him for every penny he's worth. Again, a prenup would prevent that. What say you? Note well that I'm not saying that the Church allows them, or that they are in fact moral; I'm just raising the issue for discussion. Whatever the Church teaches, I accept.

Aloysius
the only prenuptial agreement I'd ever consider is one where we both sign off that every precept of canon law regarding marriage is fulfilled in it and that we will never seek annulment. Didacus
My parents had mentionned this to me before I got married (just over 5 years ago). i gave it much thought, after all, my parents where pushing here. My conclusion; It betrays the trust to which you will swear before God as having towards your spouse. It prepares the marriage to failure, instead of genuinely and entirely giving one's self. It's a bit like the expression 'indian giving'. I'm going to give you 5$, but if you don't do with it what i want you to do with it, I'll take it back. Now was the 5$ even given in the first place? Never can you justify a prenuptual agreement when entering a Catholic wedding. I don't know much, but this I know for certain.
