Sojourner
For those of you who've graduated from high school, have you gone or will you go to high school reunions? For those who haven't yet graduated, do you think you'll do it? Why or why not?
Carrie
I skipped my five year reunion. My ten year reunion will be in about two and a half years and I'll probably skip that as well. I'm doing very well for myself but I don't need to go to my reunion to show off what I've accomplished. All the people who were important to me in high school are still in my life anyway. Sojourner
Same for me -- I didn't go to either my 5 or 10 year. I've been told I'll eventually want to go back ... but of all the people in my past with whom I'd want to reconnect, my h.s. classmates aren't so much on the list. Sojourner
We only had one Catholic family in my school that I knew of. I guess it would be kinda interesting to see the girl from that family who was in my class. Wonder if she's still Catholic?
ofpheritup
NOPE AND NEVER. I had nothing in common with them. I can't see wasting my time and money to stand around and find out nothing has changed. There are only 6 the entire four years of high school I would like to catch up with. I can do that thru classmates.com And if they want me they can find me the same way. I was "an outcast, a good girl." I had maybe a friend a year. The rest of the school was so "morally bankrupt" it was scary. I wonder what they are like now as parents?
Jaime
I went to my 10 year and that was fun I went to my 20 year and that was odd. I think the key is to have absolutely no emotional investment in seeing the folks. Don't get me wrong, I loved high school and had some wonderful friends. But I'm certainly a different person now and I don't hold them to the standard of "who they were" when I went to the reunion. For a lot of people it seems to have a lot to do with conquering old ghosts and I just don't get that.
Thumper
I went to my five year reunion, and was very glad that I did. I'm not the best with staying in touch with all my friends from high school, but I went to a small school and many of those folks were a part of my life from the time I was three--for better and for worse! At any rate, the reason I am glad I attended was that a friend of my ended up dying from contracting meningitis about six months later. Since we got to spend time together at the reunion, I was blessed to know how happy she was in her marriage and her baby daughter, and just had a good time talking. I didn't go to my ten year reunion, mostly because I allowed myself to be put-off by the snobbishness of one of my former classmates. In retrospect, I wish I had gone since it has been a long time since I've seen some of these people who had important roles to play in my life.
