peach_cube
from http://www.newadvent.org/almanac/thisrock93.htm (recomends the whole page for a quick skim B) ) The Book of Mormon says that the Lamanites and some Nephites (Jews who are alleged to have migrated fro Palestine to the New World around 600 B.C.) were punished by God for their wickedness. The "punishment," inflicted in the form of a curse, was to turn them from white-skinned Semites into dark-skinned Indians (cf. 1 Nephi 12:23; 2 Nephi 5:20-24; Jacob 3:3-5; Alma 3:5-9; Mormon 5:15-18). The Book of Mormon adds that those who receive the curse and later repent can have their skins turned white again (Jacob 3:8; 3 Nephi 2:14-15; Alma 23:18). Isn't this a positive message to convey to potential converts? Just another odd twist in the adventure that is the church of LSD (sic)
cmotherofpirl
For a very long time, blacks were not permitted in the mormon temple. THen they had a revelation, and changed their policies.

Trying2BFaithful
True about blacks fromerly not allowed in the temple. Mormons claim blacks have dark skin because it is "the mark of Cain"...absolute absurdity. I have a friend who is Mormon and has tried in vain to convert me. I have a copy of the book of Mormon. Its pretty silly IMHO. Mormons target Catholics because they exploit the aspects of their teaching that mimics Catholic doctrine, namely Church authority and obedience. All they have to do is convince an unsuspecting Catholic of an apostasy after the death of the original apostles and they'd have him/her hooked. If you want to never fall victim to the Apostasy theory, read "One Holy Catholic and Apostolic" by Kenneth Whitehead or "Upon this Rock" by Stephen K. Ray. You'll be invincible to the Mormons arguments. You might also want to check out "The New Mormon Challenge" by Francis K. Beckwith, Carl Mosser, and Paul Owen. It exposes the Mormon religion for what it truly is: a complete and utter cult. By the way, I normally don't watch such carp, but did anyone catch the recent episode of South Park where they basically exposed Mormon history and its hypocrisy? It was very, very irreverant but I couldn't help but laugh at the ease the writers had in showing just how ludicrous the Mormon foundation is. It would be hard for any rational Mormon to remain a Mormon after watching the episode. believing their faith requires abondoning common sense, honestly. They're nice people, but seriously...
