prose
That was my first guess... So TECHNICALLY, they would be EEMs....
Thy Geekdom Come
What is an "EM"? I must have missed that lesson....
It's Eucharistic Minister...except that the official term is "Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion"...once you remove that "extraordinary," people treat it like it's a right and a rank in the Church. ...of course, if you leave it in, they still might consider it a right and a rank...and think they must be just great at it, too... Piccoli Fiori JMJ
I really don't like being an EM... I totally do not feel at all worthy to be holding Christ in my hands... I don't think there are more than 5 or 6 EMs total at my parish that would feel the same about it not being a right or a rank. Everyone else just seems to take advantage of it. I really am thinking about notbeing an EM anymore... I hate the fact that our pastor wants to speed up Communion so the EMs are supposed to approach the altar during the Agnus Dei. And then we kneeled when the Priest consumed, and then told later specifically "Were not supposed to kneel, but that's okay, it was our first time through." Arg... This is all too dumb. tojo
being traditional doesn't imply not having joy -- that seems to be what is being expressed in some of the posts on this thread. Charismatics, IMHO, are too focused on the external feelings of that tingly feeling of goodness and 'joy'. Whereas, again IMHO, the traditionalist or more reserved individual who prefers the Church's traditional approach to worship, has a clear understanding that our joy is to be directed toward God, that at Mass we come to adore and worship the Most Holy Trinity.... we don't come for 'community'.
We must be from very different communities, because I know very few non-Charismatic Catholics who seem to love or care for the Lord much at all. They come to Mass for community and don't care a bit about worshipping God, they seem to think the Church is all about self-love and really understanding yourself. The Charismatics I know love the Lord and the Church and the sacraments, and go to Mass to worship.....

Just because we are the EMs, does that mean we are exempt from showing reverance? I really do not like being an EM at my parish.

None of us are above abuses or misunderstandings of our faith. No more judging, no more assuming.

You are so smart... Now, I just need to tell Mr. Father Mike he is making a big no-no... This stuff irritates me... and he is doing all of this just to make Communion a little bit speedier... I remember a story with St. Pio and another priest who dropped a host during communion because he went so hastily through it and didn't notice. Later on while purifing the vessels, he saw a host floating before him, he was totally shocked by it, the next day he came to Padre Pio and told him of the event and Padre Pio told him that he was going too quickly and that he should take his time because Jesus is present in every little crumb of the consecrated host.
