Flower seeds

My friend just gave me a bunch of flower seeds. I get to go plant them now, and then they'll pop up come Spring. Woo hoo!

That's been one of the best parts about the new place -- I have plenty of dirt to dig around in, and my landlords have given me free rein to play.

She gave me black-eyed Susans, yellow coreopsis, and purple coneflowers. I also want to plant some daffodil bulbs, cuz those will come up first in the spring. Maybe some irises too.

I've always wanted to learn how to garden, but haven't been able to yet.

My mom is a big gardener. When I was a kid, I hated helping her, because it's really no fun to have to bend over picking strawberries in a huge patch for hours on end. I'd purposefully pull the wrong plants while weeding so that she wouldn't ask me to help. :ninja:

I do like being able to have a small plot of my own, though ... I planted some tomatoes, eggplant, and green peppers this year, but they didn't get enough sun and didn't produce as I'd hoped they would. I'll try them in a different place next year.

You're too funny! Your poor mom!

I've never gardened at all. When your yard is concrete, its kind of difficult. I would love to learn one day when I have a real house with a real yard.

The only thing I've ever planted was a punch. :ninja:

I've planted those. When my brothers and I were younger (i.e., before they could kill me 13 different ways with their bare hands) we'd have knock-down, dragout fights, hitting each other with whatever implements were at hand. Our parents would, from time to time, leave us alone (since I was the oldest, I was the babysitter). We'd get into a huge fight, and be standing in a headlock when we heard the car drive up. Then we'd be like, "I won't tell if you won't tell."

It worked, usually, unless one of us woosed out.

I've never hit any of my siblings. Punches were reserved for other kids I didn't like. ;)

If we fought other kids, we got in big trouble.

I once punched a neighbor kid for ripping the hair off my favorite doll. I got in the BIGGEST trouble ever. Spanked, grounded, and I had to APOLOGIZE to him. :pinch:

Wow, they made you apologize?

My parents always told me that if a kid hit me, I should be tough and hit back. I'd get in trouble for not defending myself and get praised when I did defend myself.

I'm a city kid.

I'll keep your city kid mentality in mind should we ever meet.

 I haven't hit anyone in years.

Besides, I only hit if you hit first. :)

So, back to those flower seeds... ^_^

I haven't hit anyone in years either, so we should be safe :D:

Ahh, the halcyon days of youth ...
