photosynthesis
I was just talking to my friend, and his parish doesn't have kneelers. They don't kneel during the consecration, they all sit down!!! i was appalled!
OldFashionedGirl
I go to a Mass said in a chaple that is part of a very large parish. In the Chaple I kneel for Communion, but in the Church there are no kneelers because of the bishop's orders, so I genuflect before I recieve. I kneel untill I get up to go to Communion, and when I have received Communion, I kneel untill the final blessing.
Cam42
I know that this is a big shocker to everyone....... I kneel until I get up for Holy Communion. I approach and kneel (or genuflect, if in a REALLY liberal parish) to receive the Blessed Sacrament. I do not make the Sign of the Cross. I return to my place and I kneel (depending on the moment) I will either stay kneeling or I will stand for the final blessing and dismissal. Oh, then I pray the Rosary after Mass. tojo
Depends on where I'm at, the student parish or my home (charismatic) parish: (btw, I'm a new convert so I may get terms wrong) Charismatic Parish 1. Kneel for consecration, 2. Stand up for Our Father, etc 3. Kneel again for "Lord I am not worthy..." 4. Stand up and sing 5. Process forward 6. Genuflect before the Body 7. Receive Body and cross self 8. Genuflect or bow before the Blood 9. Receive Blood and cross self 10. Return to seat, spend a few moments kneeling in prayer; stand and sing Student Parish 1. Kneel for consecration, 2. Stand up for Our Father, etc 3. Stand for "Lord I am not worthy..." (I bow my head and bend my knees) 4. Stand up and sing 5. Process forward 6. Bow bfore the Body(genuflecting heavily discouraged there) 7. Receive Body and cross self 8. Bow before the Blood 9. Receive Blood and cross self 10. Return to seat, spend a few moments (not kneeling) in prayer; sing At the Student parish we receive a lot of grief if we genuflect or kneel when they don't want us too. The charismatic and traditional conservative students have to tow the line at the Student parish or (so the rumors go) our Bible Study/Prayer group will be taken away.
And you have every right to kneel for Holy Communion. They cannot stop you, nor can they give you a hard time for doing it. If they do, you should complain......it is your perogative and you should not be chided nor defamed for doing what is proper and right. Do a search on this board for "kneeling" with my name.....you will get a great thread to read through.....it is clear.....kneeling is not to be discouraged.
