Piccoli Fiori JMJ
AH! A girl in my Campus Crusade for Christ Bible Study is "Church Shopping." She is totally a Catholic now and admits she is one, but is now going through the whole, "I dunno what I am supposed to be" deal. Ack! CRU is definatly not the place to get help with this sort of thing... I am thinking about sending her an e-mail letter what-ever... thing is I have to beat this other girl in the Bible study, a "used-to-be" and I went through that whole thing... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Yeah... not good. I am looking for some info on why the Church is the True Church and this whole non-denom thing is totally wacked out... I am thinking of sending her a copy of Pillar of Fire, Pillar of Truth by Catholic Answers... but first highlighting some important things for her... anything to point out would rock, because I have not read the whole thing myself yet... Anyhelp would be most great! Prayers as well for her!
phatcatholic
ya know, i was gonna suggest "Pillar of Fire, Pillar of Truth" so its cool that you thought of it already. even tho its online, give her the booklet form, so she can carry it with her. also, make sure she knows that at catholic.com she can go and learn more about everything presented in the booklet and that, if she has any questions, just to let you know. tell her that you want to know what she thinks about it after she reads it. i think material from catholic.com is your best bet as far as concise, introductory defenses of the faith are concerned. I was thinking of sending it anonomously, but I think it would be best to do it personally (You know, write a letter, etc. ) though... and a letter would be best because I only see her at Bible Study... thessalonian
POFPOT is great. I was just listening to Steve Ray talk about the Church fathers, especially Irenaus and Ignatius of Antioch. You might point her to the early Church Fathers. Point out some things about them that were truly Catholic such as Ignatius belief in the real prescence or Clement of Rome's excercising of Papal like authority over the Corinthians, or the Catecacetical nature of the Didach. These people WERE CATHOLIC. You can access their writings at www.newadvent.org/fathers. The best thing to keep her in however is I think John 6. Simply ask her how she can leave the Eucharist. "My flesh is true food, my blood is true drink". If you want me to expand on any of these points let me know. Thess
Piccoli Fiori JMJ
You guys are so awesome I just hope that my efforts and prayers are not in vain, but I don't think they will lead her away... I have to rewrite the letter I had written for her now... It sounded too "I'm better than you" kinda and was a little on the incoherant side...h

It sounds much better now, and I never mentioned I was a "flaming" Catholic anywhere in there... Here's hoping that all goes well! Now for a Novena to Saint Anthony (The Hammer of Heretics ) I am also thinking that a bad Catholic education may also be at root of this as well. Piccoli Fiori JMJ
What do you think of the "Questions and Answers about the Catholic Faith" book from the KofC's Veritas series? I have a copy of this on hand as well. It looks pretty good, but a bit lengthy... what do you guys think?

Piccoli Fiori JMJ
Awesome! I might send this to her as well. It seems to address more issues than the other one had (mainly because it is longer and has room to do so) and I can get quite a few more of them whenever I go home. The Knights Rock! Piccoli Fiori JMJ
Just an update about what has happened: She wrote me back on facebook... here is the message:
Dear Angela, I just wanted to let you know how unbelievably touched I was to receive your letter in the mail. I cried and I thanked God for sending me someone who can help me decipher my religion. I'm so confused right now it's crazy and I would love to talk to you sometime just to see what your views are. You are a wonderful girl with a good heart and I thank you for showing concern for my present state in my faith. You can call me anytime at 555-555-5555. Thank you and God bless! Steffani
Now I just need to call her!
