Federal Judge rules Holy See is sovereign state,

Only between Italy and the Vatican . . . ?
We'd actually have to read them to know that

This started out as a US court trying to drag the Vatican City State (as alter ego of the Holy See - as immediate superior of the negligent bishop - who hired/retained/and covered up the pedophile priests) into a US court to cough up civil damages

is this a candidate for "stump Cam"???

the Lateran Pact was only between Italy and the Vatican.

In the decades since, I believe most if not all countries have recognized the Vatican as its own sovereign state.

Seems to me that cooperating in an act which infringes on the Sovereignty of the Papal state would be an act punishable by excommunication. This was ofen the case in the early and late Middle Ages.

Let us say that the Judge ruled differently...thePope then would be required to show up in Court if he ever came to the U.S.

This would mean that Papa Benedict would probably never come to the U.S. That would be really really stupid and sad. :sadder:

Luckly, the moron/attention munger was powned by the judge. :D:
