at0m1c
Do we still have to genuflect on Good Friday when the tabernacle is empty?

philothea
Urgle. Good Friday in my parish always makes me feel so awkward. I don't know what to do. I highly suspect that my pastor has not emptied the tabernacle, since there is no Holy Thursday service held there, and he doesn't tend to pay attention to that sort of thing. And unfortunately, he never lights the red candle in the sanctuary (does it have a specific name?) so I can't tell.

Ziggamafu
i feel odd genuflecting before i sit down, anyway! at least when i'm not at my own parish. at my parish, the tabernacle is front and center - the crown of attention. at seemingly every other parish, i have to search around for it. and it's usually off to the side somewhere. so i feel like i'm disrespecing the eucharist by kneeling away from Him. oh well, i do it anyway. but i STILL feel weird.
if i go into a church and the tabernacle isn't in the center, i genuflect facing the tabernacle, wherever it is. sometimes that means genuflecting in a diagonal direction. sometimes it means genuflecting in a direction that is perpendicular to the direction of the pews. i don't care. the genuflection is out of respect for the Body in the tabernacle, so i face in the direction of the tabernacle. plus, its a huge witness to other people when they see u doing something out of the ordinary and then they realize why.
