Thy Geekdom Come
It drops my conversations, it logs me into the network but just sits there thinking for over an hour, and when I can't seem to get anywhere and decide to complain, I hear, "oh, one of the servers is down...we're working on it." Since when did "one of the servers is down" become an excuse? Shouldn't there be backups? Should students who need the internet for school work, not to mention keeping up with family and friends, be left offline the weekend before midterms? When we address the IT office and they tell us that they plan to have a better network next year, why don't we ask, "why will it take so long?" I couldn't log on in my dorm today, so I took my computer to the hook-ups in the library and tried there...it still wouldn't go. The library boasts super fast internet connections...well yeah, when the IT department keeps up on their job and makes sure the server can handle the anticipated traffic! MissScripture
What really smells of elderberries is when too many people have too many things running...and the WHOLE campus looses power. Then not only can you not use the amazingly slow internet connection, you can't use the computer...or telephone, or stereo, or t.v., or microwave, or anything.
