Decoding ‘the Da Vinci Code’

" Is there a secret cache of documents that reveal the true history of Christianity?

No one knows, but scholars are busy analyzing ancient documents found in Egypt in the last century. These texts, known as the Gnostic Gospels, were lost for centuries, and could shed new light on the origins of the church."

Things like this make me so angry. The church was founded the way the Church says it was founded, By Christ upon the Rock(Peter), it is indestructible and has never and will never fall into corruption. It is perfect and Spotless point blank, because it was founded by God and is led by God and always will be.

It's funny... it reminds me of how people claim that America's founding fathers were not Christians (most of them were). Also reminds me of stupidity of mankind, what if this was a post-modern issue? For example...

- A guy named Bob decides to start and run an organization with someone named Steve.

- They hire a bunch of other people to help run it as well, but Bob and Steve are the heads/leaders/co-presidents/whatever.

- After about 150 years, Bob and Steve are dead, but the organization is still thriving.

- However, a group of people somehow, somewhere... find a bundle of documents that claim to have had someone named Lizzy, who helped start and run the organization with Bob.

- But, the company's archives clearly state that the founders were Bob and Steve, not Bob and Lizzy.

- Unfortunately however, the group of people who found these documents... decide to write a book about it, come up with educated guesses/assumptions, and tell the world about it through the media.

- Thus, people are listening to a group of people, who think what they have found... is a reliable account of what really happened. Though without any proof that the documents they are going by, are accurate at all.

...in case if you were wondering, these alternative documents (stating that Lizzy was a founder with Bob), were written by Lizzy's boy friend, who was a smell of elderberries up.

THE END

The Gnostic writings are apocryphal. The Gnostics were heretics. These people never cease to amaze with their stupidity.

Why on earth would people try to find any direct link between the characters Leonardo da Vinci painted and the actual occasion of the Last Supper? Second guessing the characters and the meaning of the piece of art can only honestly be done if the mindset of the artist is known at the time the painting was painted.

A 'true' visual representation of the Last Supper could only come from someone who was actually there and then it would still be open to the artist's interpretation, and clearly those who were there were far too busy to be whipping out paintbox and palate!

I haven't read this book, but is this the sort of thing it contains generally? If so, then it would appear that it's primary purpose is to undermine the Christian faith.

Just saw an article in Newsweek about this. Classic load of junk. Women who say the Church supressed them so they attend Protestant congregations now. Maybe if they had bothered to learn about their own Church they would have felt otherwise. This women's ordination thing just drives me insane. If they bothered to read the Bible they would see it isn't Biblical.

More research based on "Christian writings", also known as Gnostic Gospels, which are also known as apocryphal. Ohhhh I am soo mad!

Why be angry? Does this disservice matter? Will not the light of truth shine despite the lies?

Its called righteous anger, and its required.

Yes it matters. Fiction portrayed as truth is SIN.

THe light of truth sometimes requires us to hold the flashlight and to do the pointing.
