philothea
I am curious to know what you guys do when you realize you weren't paying attention much (or at all) while praying. (I assume I am not the only one this happens to... ) Do you say the part where you were distracted over, or go on and try to do better next time? Dust's Sister
funny you say that, cuz I was praying last night, and I was going to bed, but my friend was watching tv in my room, and then she decided to leave, and I did say my prayers again. If I'm distracted I usually do say them again.
philothea
Thanks for sharing. I am still not sure what to do. Anyone else?
Christie_M
I do the same. If I don't say it over, I feel kinda guilty because I rather just say the prayer so I could get it over with, then do it over agian to please God.

Say it as best you can in your present state and leave the rest to God's merciful love in accepting it.

Sarah_JC
Even if you go through a whole decade of the rosary saying only the second half of the Hail Mary? Ooops.
PadrePioOfPietrelcino
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one to mess up the rosary like that

thessalonian
If I have the time I will say decades over if I do not at least think some about the mystery. I hate to say this happens often as I pray while I drive. I do feel that God gives alot of credit for just making the effort. Further KEEP IN MIND the Blessed Mother IS praying with you so it is not as if the prayers do not have weight. Also, while the focus may not be on the words, the intent of the heart is what counts and the very fact that you are attempting to pray, which you cannot do without the Holy Spirit is reason enough to believe the prayers are of value. I would just recommend being as dilligent as possible and not to worry beyond that.

Like Raphel said, you're never gonna say them perfectly, but say them the best you can and make a resolve to say them better next time. We aren't perfect, and God understands that. If I am in the chapel praying or in adoration and I get distracted, I will usually get up and walk out and try to re-focus, if I can't then I go back say a prayer asking God to watch over me, and then I leave. Totus Tuus
it depends for me... I'll re-do it sometimes, but mostly I just apply myself extra hard once I realize I'm distracted. I have a very hard time meditating on the Rosary, especially. Prayers I read are easier to stay focused on (I guess I'm a visual person). But I'm still trying with the Rosary. If I tried to go back and RE-DO them that is all I would ever do. I GET DISTRACTED A LOT.
