picchick
Hey everybody! My boyfriend asked me this question yet I was not sure where to find information about it. He wants to get chastity rings that would be for both of us. Something that shows that we are saving oursevles for each other when we are married. I told him that I thought that there was such a thing but that I wasn't sure. Does anyone know about this? If so where did you find it?
franciscanheart
Yes. They are all over the internet. Let me find some for you. edit: also, i have had friends that buy matching rings not specifically designed to be chastity rings but made them that way for themselves. it provides greater selection if you do it that way. Cow of Shame
soooo...what's the difference between that & an engagement ring, other than the fact that the industry has you buying more jewelry? Can't you make the engagement ring mean the same thing?
franciscanheart
engagement rings are generally seen as a promise to marry. it is not the same as a chastity ring. a lot of times couples will buy them together to help keep them chaste and to have a visual symbol for others to see and know. a lot of times however single people will buy them. its not a promise to marry anyone but a commitment to yourself and God not to partake in unchaste activity. it serves as a good reminder as to why you dont involve yourself in sexual activity outside of marriage. i feel like im not saying this the right way... Guest T-Bone
An engagement ring means that you are engaged to be married (ie. you've set a date, are calling caterers, etc.).
franciscanheart
a chastity ring only involves marriage in the sense that you'll save yourself until that time comes (if you're called to be married)
ForHimAlone
I don't know if you'll like this idea, but when I first bought my chastity/virginity ring, I wanted it to be gold so I could melt it down into my husband's wedding band.
picchick
I have a ring that I call my chastity ring. He does not have one. Maybe I should get him one and then we both would have one instead of getting the same one and so on. I often question the whole engagement ring vs. promise ring sorta dealy. Personally I think that I promise ring is kinda stupid. It is like a pre-engagement ring. Ruins the surprise. However I see the difference in a chastity ring. It is saying something like, I am saving myself from sex for you or the person I am waiting. This really means a lot to me. I look around me and I see the people I know and see that they are not saving it or that they don't see a need in saving it. My boyfriend sees this importance in keeping sex saved for marriage. Him bringing up the ring thing is also important because he suggested it. I know that it isn't just one sided. Thanks to you all who responded. I will pass the info on to him. Totus Tuus
you know, I just used to wear a ring I had. I don't see why you have to spend a lot to get a "chastity" ring. Can't you just use any ring? Or is there something special about "chastity" rings?
