Aloysius
druidism died out a long time ago. these are new-agers attempting to revive it in a modern and completely non-real way. not good stuff.
Socrates
Ditto Aloysius - Much like "Wicca" - an invented modern "revival" of paganism.
Thy Geekdom Come
Well, since the ancient druids used to make giant manlike effigies out of wicker, fill them with human sacrifices, and burn them...yeah...let's hope your friend comes home. Sarah_JC
I read in a history book they also liked to collect heads and sacrifice them to their many-headed gods. But if you talk to a "real" druid, they'll tell you that all these things were made up by the Romans. edit: at least that's what one druid guy told me... Dreamweaver
Eh, "Druidism" is merely one of the neo-pagan paths that people think is more legit than Chrstianity since it is "older". Nevermind that Wicca and other neo-pagan things were invented in the 20th century. Anyways, following that path takes you away from Christ and into Satan's sandbox. I will pray for your friend, that he/she may realize the fullness of truth is in the Catholic church, and that they may come back.
hopeful1
thanks dreamweaver. she said that she left because she had doubts about some teachings and it got to the point where she felt like she had to get out of the lifestyle because it was becoming "self harming". she gone through alot of tough stuff (read: BIG TRIGGERS) in the past year too that may have affected her impression of catholicism and christianity in general. Socrates
thanks dreamweaver. she said that she left because she had doubts about some teachings and it got to the point where she felt like she had to get out of the lifestyle because it was becoming "self harming". she gone through alot of tough stuff (read: BIG TRIGGERS) in the past year too that may have affected her impression of catholicism and christianity in general.
People usually become "neo-pagan" as a kind of reaction against Christianity, rather than because they find paganism truly intellectually or spiritually compelling. The appeal is in a "religion" where they can "make their own rules." I think your friend's issues with the Catholic Faith are what needs to be dealt with here primarily. hopeful1
without going into her lifestory, there was one point in the spring where she told me she did come back to catholicism after realizing how lost she was without God (she just went through something very tragic). i was aware she may have made some poor choices before she came back, but when she told me that i had no idea she even left. i even showed her phatmass and she even thought the IM buddy icons were cool. but when she was starting to get things in her life straightened out, she got distracted, moved away from home and back with her mom in another state. and she has a boyfriend now, who she's really happy with and sounds really sweet, but he's also wiccan. i suspected that maybe she left her faith for him or something, but i looked into one of her blog groups on myspace, which was about druidism, and her post that said she had left the faith last fall, and her post was from last fall. when i had met her last fall, she said she was catholic and gave no reason for me suspect that she was considering leaving.
