Thanks for quoting it again. I was really trying to forget I'd ever read it.

[quote name='Sojourner' date='Sep 23 2005, 09:10 AM']Milk is a great nutrient-bearing liquid. I have slight lactose intolerance, though, so I try not to overdo it with milk. Otherwise I have problems. I almost never drink it straight out, and I keep ice cream/coagulated milk/cream consumption to a reasonable level.

Goat's milk is equivalent to cow's milk in terms of nutrition, but it doesn't bother people with lactose intolerance. Might wanna check it out. ;)
And it's not that goat's milk doesn't have lactose, certainly it does. Actually scientists aren't exactly sure why it is so much kinder to the lactose interant. The fat globules are smaller and thus easier to break down which I suppose has something to do with it. This also explains why the cream doesn't seperate as quickly as in cow's milk. Goat's milk is essentially homogenous.

I've had goat's milk. My sister drank it when she was a baby because my mom had to stop nursing because of illness. We went to a goat farm every week and got a couple gallons of it.

It's not my favorite ... a little to earthy for my taste. I prefer water and other ways of getting vitamins. ;)

[quote name='Sojourner' date='Sep 23 2005, 06:30 AM']I went to Trader Joe's the other day and they had buffalo milk yogurt. I didn't buy any. I barely like yogurt as it is.

I love Trader Joe's! There are two of them in my area. Their vanilla soy milk is the best. Everything there is good, including their soap. Don't eat it though.

[quote name='Laudate_Dominum' date='Sep 23 2005, 03:08 PM']That's probably condemned in Leviticus somewhere. hehe What an abomination anyhow.  <_<

That could never work anyway because milk fats are quite unique. The fat emulsion consists of micron-size globules that are stabilized by complex phospholipids and proteins. And the fat ratio and composition is not the only thing that varies from milk to milk. What about proteins? Carbohydrates? Mineral content? Etc.? It's a lost cause.. :(

when I was a baby, I had to drink milk with pig fat in it...
