The thing about original sin reminds me, I agree dsomewhat with what Père Pierre Teilhard de Chardin said about original sin when I read it (I don't remember the details of it), but I know that his supervisors punished him for his views by sending him against his will to China. Is there an official stance on his views thereof?

Yes, actually. There is. He was silenced and his views are condemned.
