Aloysius
republican. lol.. officially... I'd rather have republicans than democrats at least. but I'm really influenced by G.K. Chesterton in my economic thought, so I'm fairly distributist. not in the sense that some crazy distributists are (they think one massive socialist action could work and then have the government be small and leave us alone... a stupid concept in my humble opinion). I like small government not centralized. I think property tax is immoral and that the government should be doing stuff to encourage property ownership (I liked Bush's slogan of an society of ownership, too bad it doesn't go far enough) Cut through all the beaurocratic red tape and let people use their God-given creative power to create a better life and world for themselves. don't give them so many safety nets and then they won't fail as often. that's my basic philosophy. I often tell my fiance (who likes rockclimbing) that if she went out on a rock without ropes and harnasses she'd never fall. lol. now, that's not necessarily true but it illustrates my point... people rocklimbing with ropes and harnasses don't mind if they fall off the rock every now and then, but if you didn't have all that you'd do everything possible not to. anyway, I don't know what the US Taxpayer's Party is... lol. but yeah... I know I'm crazy in my views, but all I want to do is escape all the overcomplication of beaurocracy and be able to make a living with something I own and live on a peice of land I own (property tax=rent paid to the government). p-hawk
Aloysius, I have yet to read a comment of yours that I do not agree with. So, for a topic switch, does the school system as currently instantiated help or hinder the implementation of such a government?
Aloysius
the public school system is a branch of an overbearing government in my humble opinion. so I suppose I'd say it hinders it. Lounge Daddy, interesting site. I will look more into it after I'm done with all the college work I have to be doing right now.

Aloysius
well, while I have an entire thread named after me and dedicated to my political and economic thought, I might as well make a plug for my own website: http://www.chesterbel.net lounge_daddy, you up to building a community to escape big business and big government to allow a truly free and fairly privately distributized market thrive somwhere around GR and you could ally with the one I'm going to build in a loose alliance of a New Christendom of small quasi-city-states? : Or better yet, if you're up for a move you could help me with the one I'm set to build in southwestern pennsylvania! I didn't know libraries still use DDS.
