Ellenita
Anyone read any of Scott Hahn's books? Is he a good writer?
VeraMaria
i've read Rome Sweet Home, his conversion story. I'm not good at all at judging writers, but that depends on skill. That doesn't matter in his books, what matters is that he has something important to tell in that book, his conversion story and that of his wife Kimberly, and he's going to tell it!! Rome Sweet Home is amesome!!!!!!!! :D B) :D B) You can also listen to his conversion story and that of his wife somewhere online...i'll have to dig up the link...
Ellenita
Thanks Vera! :D I've just ordered 'Rome sweet home' from amazon. :D I took a chance that I would find it interesting - I usually like to check a book out before I buy it if I've never read anything else by the author, but I haven't been able to find any of his books over here so far. I need to go to Westminster Cathedral bookshop I guess! :D

immaculata
WOW! Scott Hahn is my hero!! I accidentally picked up a copy of his book A Father Who Keeps His Promises and fell in love. A friend of mine was reading it for religion class, and while I was helping him w/ his homework I started flipping through the pages.. He writes in a very easy-to-understand, almost conversational tone. But the things he says are so profound!! Hail, Holy Queen and The Lamb's Supper are also phenomenal!! Every Catholic should be required to read Scott Hahn! :D

Katholikos
Hahn has a powerful conversion story, but just as remarkable are the number of Protestant ministers he has converted to the Catholic Faith. They number in the hundreds. Once they hear a tape or read a book, they have to know more. I've heard him speak a couple of times. His writing style and speaking style are the same -- he's such a brainy guy, a scripture scholar and theologian, but what he has to say he puts in simple terms. Easy reading, easy listening. Every book of his is a gem. His "Hail Holy Queen" answers objections to Mary. The Lamb's Supper explains that the Book of Revelation is a record of St. John's vision of the perpetual Mass that goes on in Heaven. Everything he writes is highly recommended. Funny story -- I mailed "Rome Sweet Home," a tape by one of Hahn's pastor converts, and some other Catholic stuff to a member of our phatmass phamily. The package was opened by someone who works at the post office -- and Rome Sweet Home and the tape were stolen. The package was resealed and sent on its way. I can't imagine a thief taking a book that is clearly Catholic and a tape marked "Ken Hensley's conversion story." Hope they read the book and listened to the tape! I like to think the person who took them is a former thief turned Catholic! JMJ Likos P.S. For the record, I should state that Scott Hahn, Ph.D., is a former Presbyterian minister, who was steeped in Calvinism. IXpenguin21
Dr. Hann blows my mind in simple conversation about things i take for granted in my faith. there's a good reason why he's known as the modern-day st. paul by some!

cmotherofpirl
If you can get St Ignatius Study Bible edited by him. Best bible notes andreferences you can find. The bad part is you have to by one book at a time, but they are worth it.

Seven77
Watch Scott Hahn and Jeff Cavins Our Father's Plan on EWTN every Sat. 6pm East... this show really opened up Scripture for me and helped me to see how the OT is hidden in the NT and vice versa... and the Lamb's Supper was the first book i read, about the Eucharist.
