He lead the combinded Catholic forces at the battle of Lepanto saving Europe from a Turkish Muslim invasion and preventing the Medeterainian from becoming nothing more than a Turkish lake. He also helped in Spain and defeated numerous Protestant Armies in the Spanish Netherlands. While he did all of these things he was known for his Piety.
