Even my Lutheran Biblical Studies teacher despises the KJV... he thinks it is a horriable translation because it is only based off of one text/source.

Crazies...

Thy Geekdom Come

Let's play Let's Spot the Heresies and Apostasies!
We recognize only the King James Bible as God's inspired, infallible Word preserved in the English language.
Heresy! The King James Bible is not only missing 7 books, but is just a horrible translation with almost no reference to the original languages!
We believe that God is one All-Powerful and All-Holy person in three manifestations: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit
Apostasy! This is known as Modalism (aka Patripassionism, Sabellianism, and Modalist Monarchianism) and was condemned in the early Church because it denies that there was any generation in God (i.e. "God from God, Light from Light," etc.). God cannot be one Person, of course, because, if God is all-loving, then that love requires an object. If creation is the only object, then creation would have to be eternal like God (so that God, who is eternal, could always be all-loving). This denies the creation of the world. Therefore, the Son exists as a Second Person, an object of the Father's love, and the Holy Spirit, the very Love of God Himself, because love is a total self-gift and thus the very Essence of God, in its entirety, is passed between Father and Son, necessitating a Third Person.
We recognize that Jesus Christ was God come to earth to dwell among men in the body of a man, for the purpose of dying on the cross for men's sins.
This half truth leaves out an important thing...Christ had the body and soul of a man, and thus, the entire human nature was His. If it was not true, then Christ's virtue could not be applied to human nature and we would not be saved.
No amount of good works, church membership, baptism, or religious exercise is sufficient to atone for sin. Only the blood of Jesus Christ can save.
Apostasy! Baptism, which is necessary for membership in the Church, makes us a part of the vine. We must be on the vine to gain salvation! Jesus instituted Baptism for a reason. The Blood of Jesus Christ alone can save, but they leave out how it is applied to us. Therefore creating a dualism by dividing what God does for us from how we must respond. By saying that Baptism is not necessary, they commit apostasy.

This has been another wonderful episode of Let's Spot the Heresies and Apostasies!

Thank you for playing!
It looks like they also embrace the oneness doctrine, rejecting the Trinity.
As a former Oneness Pentecostal, I will vouch that their statements of belief about God certainly don't preclude their adhereing to a oneness theology of the Godhead, however, I've never heard that there are any Oneness Baptists, and suspect that they are just careless fundamentalists who don't express themselves well or work out the implications of what they're saying....

haha...

whenever Protestants say stuff about "Paul" i get confused and I'll say stuff like "Paul? Paul who?" I have 3 different uncles all named Paul and about a million friends named Paul, and so unless you say St. Paul i have no idea who you're talking about
