Have you been "saved"?

What do yuo say to someone who asks you this question?

I say, "Well, my Protestant friend, it would be a splendid thing if all it took to be 'saved' was to verbally accept Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour. Now then, how about we go find someplace nice to sit down and discuss how you can [i]truly[/i] be saved -- like the local Catholic parish."

One time my friend was in the waiting room at the dentist's office and this protestant lady sat down next to him, pointed out his miraculous medal and said, "you don't need any mediators to get to Jesus" to which my friend responded, "then I guess I don't need you".

I just thought it was funny for some reason.

I have been saved when I was baptized, I am being saved by his grace working out in love, and I will be saved IF I hold fast to the traditions I have recieved by God's grace in the one, holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church that has been around for 2000 years. When did your church start? That should open a can of worms.

i guess it depends on how much time you have. you could end the convo real quick and just say, "yes", knowing in your heart that your definition of "saved" is vastly different from his. or you can sit him down and talk about how salvation is a process.
