I do know that they have a novena for Our Lady of Mt. Carmel every year that attracts some of the best priests in the Archdiocese.

OK, thanks. I think I'm going to be contacting them soon.

Carmelites, we are talking about like, like...Saint Therese The Little Flower time! THEY ARE SOOOOO cloistered. Well at least the one I looked into, I mean they wont even let you see their FACE!

Do they still have cloisters like that? I remember in an older movie about St. Therese (which I love) they showed the sisters in th Carmel had their faces covered with a veil when there was a doctor or something in the cloister. But pre-Vatican II, most cloisters had a cloth hanging over the grill so that you could hear your guests, but not see them.

A good friend of mine is planning on making application to a Cloistered Carmelite Monastery in Georgetown (near Sacramento). She is very traditional, so i suppose that is why she would be attracted hear, besides all the other beauties to discover.

And if i am correct they are pretty cut off from the outside like the good ol days. (But i was hoping she could let me in one day in the future to say mass or something.)

Another friend of mine showed me this other Carmelite monestary somewhere else. The web design is brilliant, but it doesnt seem as nice.

These from what i know are cloistered.

yeah I have contacted the St. Louis Carmel, They seemed really nice and I know they have had alot of vocations there. The cool thing about them is that they have perpetual adoration just like PCPA but there Carmel. I think they are the only Carmel in the states which has perpetual adoration. So its the best of both words

Miss Smile Jesus loves you. May i recommend the Carmelite Sisters of the Sacred Heart. I lived a couple of blocks away from them, and i think they are one wonderful group of sisters. As someone who has met them, and checked out their community. (no i am not a girl, but many of my friends volunteer there, and they always have good things to say).

Back to the original point of the thread about who is considering Carmel. :P:

I started a novena to the Little Flower yesterday for you all, as her relics are coming to New Zealand on this coming Sunday! (for the next few weeks!) I will be going to venerate her after the Mass at the Carmelite Monastery on the Monday night!!!!

I've never considered Carmel, I've always been a bit scared too! However! I will be checking them out next week!
