Dreamweaver
I just looked up choktis, and it looks like they're Orthodox prayer beads. THey look similar to a rosary, and they come in various styles with 33, 50 and 100 beads. On the beads, one prays the Jesus prayer, "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner." Its a contemplative prayer, where one inhales slowly during "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God" and exhales during "Have mercy on me, a sinner." Oik
Dreamweaver's right. The Chotki are beads used to say the Jesus Prayer.

Extra ecclesiam nulla salus
I don't think Latin Rite Catholics use Chotkis. On the Rosary People pray Hail Mary's and The LOrds prayer and on chotkis they say the jesus prayer.

Its not like you would be excommunicated. One can use a rosary and pray the Jesus Prayer.. that would be cool. I should try that some time. Short and sweet the DM chaplet is great if your short on time, I've prayed it between classes. I think I'll try to make a habit of that this semester.
