Nathan
I hope to enter the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) after I finish my undergraduate studies. (Of course, that may change -- I'm a ways off yet.) I want to work with and live among the poor and the sick, perhaps here in North America, perhaps elsewhere in the world. That, or be the next Hans Urs von Balthasar.
srmarymichael
I'm not in a seminary (but in a convent), but I got to know the Mercederians in recent years. I like them very much. son_of_angels
If God calls me to the parish pastoral route, then probably the Institute of Christ the King or the Fraternity of Saint Vincent Ferrer, or some such. The first is a priestly fraternity rooted in Salesian spirituality, while the latter is rooted in Dominican spirituality (both perform the "traditional" rite). If God calls me to the monastic life then possibly the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. I like them mainly because of their radical simplicity and poverty. Extra ecclesiam nulla salus
no FSSP?
dspen2005
apparently not....
son_of_angels
I don't know. FSSP is pretty cool, but I think I like the fact that the Institute occasionally does do both rites, and that they seem to be more well-received in Rome. I really like the concept, though, of doing parish missions or maybe a chaplaincy for another (traditionalist) religious order or perhaps for a university, or somesuch. Totus Tuus
If you like the idea of parish missions, I highly recommend the Fathers of Mercy. They are traditional, not traditionalist. But they are incredible. Beautiful cassocks, wonderful formation, and highly effective charism. Two Fathers of Mercy have been chaplains for the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Alabama. Extra ecclesiam nulla salus
are thier orders that exclusivley celebrate the TLM?
Ora et Labora
Are you asking about the Fathers of Mercy or in general? Exclusively, I am under the understanding that the FSSP and the Institute of Christ the King are the best ways to go. I don't think you'd be under an obligation to celebrate the NO at any time, but I'm not the best person to ask about that. DID ANYONE HEAR ABOUT THE POPE'S VISIT WITH BISHOP FELLAY??? Our Holy Father met with him in hopes of reuniting them to the Church, and apparently the meeting went very well. There are rumors from anonymous Vatican officials about the Pope's granting SSPX's request for universal indult in hopes of furthering the reunion. It's so exciting!!!
