jgirl
Our gas went up to $2.79 from the time I went out this morning. My aunt got a tip that it would be going into the $3 range by this afternoon evening, so I topped off. The same source said expect $4 this weekend. Didacus
the american economy depends on fossil fuels more than any other country..........why is our politicians not doing more about this? 2.59
There is not much that can be done, sadly. At least not in the middle term of things. The US can release some of its reserves of oil, but this is just a very short run of relief if they do, and even then, it does not replace the lost refining capacity in the gulf, thus even if more oil was available, there would be nowhere to refine it into gas. It is going to be a rough patch, and it is going to last a few months. Hold on tight!
prose
Will this affect the whole world? For instance, will ALL gas prices be going up???
CatholicAndFanatical
When is the US going to learn that hydrogen cells are alot cheaper to produce and more economically sound? We need to ween ourselves away from Oil and on to different means. the cheapest place in Kokomo (Indiana) is 3.19. this is the highest its ever been here. Remember in Scripture where it talks about the price of bread being a days wage?? I can honestly grasp that thought now seeing the how high the gas prices are now. I wish, just for a day, everyone would NOT buy gas and protest it..just for a day. Or there will be an uprising in trying to force the governement to find an alternative source for energy..hydrogen being the main one. Lord help us.. Didacus
This is definately affecting the whole world, though some are less affected than others, and feel the effect a little later then the US (and Canada). For example, France is the largest producer of nuclear energy in the world per capita, and by far. France (me mere patie!) is most likely the industrialized nation that feel the smallest pinch at this time. The fabled 'hydrogen economy' will not help ween the US off fossil fuel. Once again, hydrogen is an energy carrier, not an energy source. And even if it was a source, to change the infrastructure would be a collosal effort that would span over 10 years. The only solution in the short term (within the next five years) is to adjust your lifestyles to accomodate for more expensive gas while other viable energy sources can be developped (nuclear fusion, nuclear fision and maybe a miracle source somwhere). Andrea348
on the Garden State Parkway in NJ, they only raise the gas prices once a week on midnight Thursday night I think it is....last week when gas jumped from 2.30-2:50 overnight the parkway was stuck at 2.37 for some extra days. the lines were sooooo long. now it is stuck at 2.57 until tomorrow night, then it will prolly jump a whole lot. too bad my summer job is over and i don't need to ride on the parkway....
