the_rev
Our local Diocsean newspaper features weekly articles by this priest who is a professor at Notre Dame. He has been hired as a consultant now for the Davinci Code Movie. I was just wonder if I was to write the editor what shoudl I include. I know he doesn't have a good rep, so what else should i mention?
thessalonian
Fr. McBrien is bad news. All the secular press goes to him when they want a liberal view from a priest. This article summs up what should be done about his articles nicely. BUT when I saw him on TV I thought why would a priest get himself involved in something like that? NOW I KNOW. THANKS.
cmotherofpirl
When the press or politican want to parade a "catholic" to agree with just about anything - he's their man. Only prayers and fasting will work on him.

He must be silenced. That said, I agree that much prayer and fasting is neccessary .

Theologian in Training
I believe he was silenced by the Vatican for a time, but cannot verify that at the moment. You might run a search for him and see what comes up. God Bless
EcceNovaFacioOmni
Awful. Just awful. His book "Catholicism" has been repeatedly condemned by the USCCB. May want to include that. There are few people (even among dissenters) that get on my nerves like Fr. Richard P. McBrien.
Nathan
I looked for Fr. McBrien's book Catholicism for a long time -- but by the time I had finally stumbled across a copy, I had heard enough about his heterodoxy that I was no longer interested. Funny that he's been hired for The Da Vinci Code. He probably believes in it.
