Jake Huether
There is a song in our Hymnal that goes, "I am the Bread of Life. You and I are the Bread of Life, broken and shared..." By Rory Cooney. That was song during Holy Communion (at which time there were several GIRM abuses, as you know). We aren't the Bread of Life. Jesus is! And if they argue that we are the Body of Christ, that is just silly. We are the Mystical Body of Christ. His REAL PHYSICAL Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in the Most Holy Eucharist is the Bread of Life. We aren't the Bread of Life for eachother. Rrrrr. The total disrespect, lack of teaching, lack of understanding, and outright abuse of the Body of Jesus Christ in our Parish is racking my brain. I become physically unwell during the consecration, because my heart is so hurt that our Lord isn't recognized in the Eucharist! And this song just put the nail in the coffin. I don't know what to do. I need spiritual direction. I've written to the Bishop. I think I'm going to talk to a priest that I know. This is really upsetting. Dave
I've never heard that song, but I've definitely heard of it. I can't believe such songs are sung during Mass -- songs that appear to promote heretical doctrines on the Eucharist! Jake, I'll pray for you regarding this situation. May writing to the bishop produce much fruit!
PedroX
We've sung that song as well. Its that blasted publishing house out of Oregon. Almost everything they print is nonsense. I've tried and tried to change the music, but Ah well. peace...
CatholicAndFanatical
Jake, give us your bishops email address or mailing address and we'll help ya complain..hehe, i said 'we' thank you everyone for the manditory volunteering :D If the Bishop just gets one complaint he'll look right over it, if he is flooded with about 50-100 complaints he'll have to look into it especially if we all mention Eucharistic Abuse and describe why. Should I, you think? I mean, I could. But would the odds of him reading it be any better? What are the benefits that you see?
nikkan_hanil
We as the Church, are the Body, but we are not the Bread. That can only come from the Master alone... Edited November 24, 2003 by nikkan_hanil
