StColette
Start praying for New Orleans The New Orleans and lower Louisiana area is currently a major target for powerful Category 3 Hurricane Katrina. I'm pretty sure that many of you know that New Orleans is completely under sea level. A large Hurricane like this could do a whole lot of damage. The French Quarter would be completely flooded along with St. Louis Cathedral which is right in the center of Jackson Square, not far from the leeve

StColette
Our Lady of Prompt Succor, Pray for Us! It is customary for devout citizens of New Orleans to gather to pray before the statue of Our Lady of Prompt Succor whenever a hurricane threatens New Orleans. They know they can depend upon Our Lady’s succor and her promptitude. Our Lady of Prompt Succor, ora pro nobis. "In Louisiana, mandatory or voluntary evacuations were called on Grand Isle, Louisiana's only inhabited barrier island, and in the parishes of St. Charles, Lafourche, Terrebonne, Plaquemines and St. Bernard." StColette
Our Lady of Prompt Succor, you are after Jesus our only hope. O Most Holy Virgin, whose merits have raised you high above angel choirs to the very throne of the Eternal and whose foot crushed the head of the infernal serpent, you are strong against the enemies of our salvation. O Mother of God, you are our mediatrix most kind and loving. Hasten, then, to our help, and as you did once save your beloved city from ravaging flames and our country from an alien foe, do now have pity on our misery, and obtain for us the graces we beg of you. Deliver us from the wiles of Satan, assist us in the many trials which beset our path in this valley of tears, and be to us truly Our Lady of Prompt Succor now and especially at the hour of our death. Our Lady of Prompt Succor, O Mary Immaculate, you are the model of all virtues, the path by which we go to Jesus, the mysterious channel through which divine favors are imparted to us. You have such power over the Heart of Jesus, hasten to our assistance and obtain our earnest request. In you, O Mary, we put our trust. Let it not be said that our hopes have been frustrated. O Mother most chaste, be our strength against temptation, our help in danger, our consolation in sorrow, but especially Our Lady of Prompt Succor at the hour of our death. Amen. Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to help us.

Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to help us."

peach_cube
Hopefully, New Orleans stays to the west of the eye and doesn't get the worst of the storm surge.
Jazz4jesus
My Brother is now a NO resident (after college there he is still there) and about an hour ago he passed by and said hi on his way back to Houston. We talked about Katrina and he said normally when Hurricanes come the south they arent too bad (still bad of course) but he said since its coming from the east and right for the Bay that is going to cause more trouble than ever. So definitely pray about this one.
StColette
prayers. Are you near there at all?
No, I'm way up in Northwest Louisiana, what we have to worry about up here are the tornadoes that can occur when hurricanes hit Louisiana. Jazz4jesus
Im keeping a careful eye on Katrina, im in Beaumont, for those who dont really know where that is (dont feel bad nobody knows and proof nobody wants to be there is the hotel rates are really cheap) to give you a relative idea, put your finger on the south east point of Texas where it touches Louisiana. there
