toledo_jesus
you must pick someone you fit with. But (and I'll preface this by saying I don't know you, and may be wrong) you might consider whether or not you are just not hearing from him what you want to hear... also, I *believe* that fully 1200 years of Christianity existed without the rosary. Mayhap the good Father is not so wrong about such an esteemed devotion being ultimately "nonessential?" this of course does not deny the validity and importance of the rosary in many Christian's lives. the_rev
I've only met with him once, so maybe I shouldn't judge off of one time. I will pray a novena, and see what God wants.
Fides_et_Ratio
It all depends. But you shouldn't feel bad about wanting a different director, it happens. YOU are the one "in charge" so to speak of the spiritual direction. It's like a doctor-- you're picky about which doc you go to, right? My previous SD would always tell me (when some discussions turned more into "arguments") that it was my choice to keep coming back to see him, and that I was free to choose a new director. You pick a spiritual director, you follow his commands as long as you remain under his direction--but that doesn't mean that you have to stick with him as a director. If you don't know him all that well, you might want to give him a little bit more of a chance.

Theoketos
They way I see it you have two options: 1) Zap him with a ray gun. 2) Be honest and upfront. Pio Nono
JMJ 8/28 - Twenty-second Sunday
that would really mean. the guy's a priest just stick with it. but if you do deciede to change you have to tell him what is the problem with him, if you don't mind me asking?
Bad advice. Spiritual directors are trained so that they can "take" anything you tell them. If some of his personal character traits are getting in the way of authentically reading the movements of the Holy Spirit in your life, then the best thing for you to do is tell him that. If he gets flustered because you think he's ugly, or because you hate his crooked teeth, or because it's a woman and not a man, or WHATEVER reason, then change directors. Trust me, spiritual directors do not mind if you come to them and say, "I think I'm going to change directors." Ask him to recommend you a new one, but whatever you do, don't be silent about it.
