PedroX
PhatCath, If you are called to be a counselor, then a theology degree can be very helpful. Our faith must inform how we attempt to help others heal. One of the best therapists I know has an MDiv and an MA in counseling. It really makes his work great. peace... phatcatholic
btw, i am still looking for a way to find out of a school that calls itself "catholic" is really teaching orthodox catholicism. apparently, some schools are in accordance w/ this mandate that the bishops sent out (to teach orthodox info) but others aren't. is there a list somewhere of schools who are following this? what i'll probably have to do is write these different schools, like Catholic University and other colleges/universities named after saints to see what's up. i guess i was just hoping there would be an easier way. my bro was telling me about this one catholic apostolate that makes sure that so-called "catholic" institutions of higher learning are actually orthodox in what they teach and allow on their campuses, but i can't think of the name of it. i'll have to holler at him too. well, i'm rambling now.......which means that it is time to end. pax christi, nick

willguy
Traitor, how dare you reveal the existence of the brotherhood in such unconfidential (is that a word?) settings? j/k. Anyways, so now my life is even harder. I haven't talked to the girl yet, and was going to do it today, except she's depressed (her mood swings more than the kids at the park) and someone she knew who was missing was found over thanksgiving break dead (suicide). So now she's upset so its hard to talk to her, but she's kind of trying to lean on me for support which I'm afraid might send the wrong message. St. Joseph, pray for me. willguy
Alright, I've got a question for all the guys that feel called to an order. How did you know that you were called to an order? How did you (do you?) know which order? I especially would like to hear from any of the fellas that feel called towards the religious priesthood (being a priest in an order). I feel called to the priesthood, but I'm not 100% sure whether diocesan or religious. Though I've always figured diocesan, there's a part of me that likes the religious priesthood idea. I tell myself that there's a greater need for diocesan priests than religious priests, but that seems like it might be just a way of trying to use what appear to be holy motives to avoid the truth (like when I tried denying that I was called to the priesthood by saying "I'm not worthy.") I'm really not sure which way God wants me. At times, I feel that I know for sure its diocesan, and at times I'm not sure.
phatcatholic
i am definitely interested in the response to willguy's question as well. willguy, in regards to this girl, this is going to be a difficult situation for you. if her mood is always changing, they may never be a good time to have "the big discussion." the only advice i would give you now is to try not to analyze this one so much. if you are anything like me, you probably think and think about something until you get "all in a tizzy" over it. so, i say: #1. let her come to you if she needs a friend during this time. #2. try to just follow your heart. search yourself and try to be aware of your feelings when she is talking to you about her situation. if something in your heart tells you to be that consoling person, then do that. if something in your heart tells you to go ahead and have "the big conversation" then do that. #3. keep praying to st. joseph. he is the single best saint to consult. afterall, he was in a sticky situation w/ a female as well!! but, he listened to God and he knew what to do. so, pray to st. joseph that he will say the more perfect prayer to Jesus, that His will be done in this scenario. good luck will and God Bless, nick
