I like stuff about guardian angels. :T I need to try that asking my guardian angel to not let me fall asleep during the day. I rarely get to sleep early because I take a nap after school. x_x

Our visiting priest mentioned his this morning. He presided at our 9 AM and had to preside at an 11 AM at a parish well over an hour away. He promised not to drive faster than his guardian angel could fly.

[quote name='Maddalena' date='Aug 28 2005, 06:29 PM']I wonder if asking my guardian angel to lead me to my future husband soon would work.

Haha, better yet... get your angel to go talk to your future husband's angel and get him to come to you... with flowers and chocolates too! ;)

Wow, just during the past week I had an alarm clock guardian angel story! For the longest time, I've had the alarm (not radio) set on my clock. Of course, the alarm is loud and scares me, so I end up turning off the alarm instead of hitting snooze.(all of this occurs when I'm half asleep). I was contemplating buying a new alarm clock the whole day afterwards. The next morning, I woke up peacefully and refreshed. Later I realized that it was the radio that woke me up, not an alarm. When I got back from school, the switch on the back of the alarm clock was set to radio, not alarm. I forgot about that switch, and had never touched it! Thank God for angels.

Ok, I’ll admit that this is not normally the type of post I would write. But I feel compelled to tell this story, so here goes:

I saw this thread last night while I was posting in my favorite forum “Word Association Game.” I hadn’t thought much about Guardian Angels before, but I found several of the stories that people had posted both moving and interesting. I had never thought about asking my Angel to wake me up - it seemed to me that Angels should have a more important purpose than just as metaphysical alarm clocks! Never the less, after several hours of posting and chatting with friends online, I found myself in a bind. It was 2:00am, and I had to be awake early to arrive at my church’s 9:00am mass. Normally under such conditions I would just go to the later service, but this was to be a special mass for my deceased grandfather, so I really couldn’t miss it. It was my fault for staying up so late in the first place, I knew, so I set my alarm clock for 7:30am. I figured, once I got up after only 5 hours of sleep, I would see how I feel and go from there.

But then I thought of the Guardian Angel thread, and some of the stories I had read. So as I was getting ready to fall asleep, I said a quick prayer. Something along the lines of “My Guardian Angel; please help me to get up early tomorrow morning, and to have enough energy to make it through the day.” My attitude was something along the lines of “I’ll give this a shot and see what happens.”

I woke up at 7:00am.

That in itself is a miracle on the order of fishes and loves, since I’ve never been a morning person!!! But it gets more interesting. Even though I was wide awake, I decided to try to get a few extra Z’s. I woke up again at 7:28am - again BEFORE my alarm went off! Eventually, full of energy, I took my shower and got going about my day.

I did make it to the 9:00am mass on time. And I wasn’t tired at all. But it gets better. I had so much energy throughout the day, that I ended up getting several tasks done that I had been putting off for months:

I had breakfast with my family
I got my truck washed and vacuumed
I pulled several weeds out of my yard
I put mulch in my flower beds
I mowed my lawn
I did several loads of laundry
Cleaned a lot of my house and got rid of a lot of garbage
I cleaned out my garage
Got everything ready I would need for the coming week
Drove to my parents house and helped them make dinner
Watched some TV with my mom
Helped my father with some work he needed done in his office

I did feel a little tired around dinner, so I had some caffeine to help me through. Otherwise - all this on five hours of sleep? I’m still not sure what to make of it all. But I do know this; I’m going to go to bed early tonight. I figure my Angel could use a well deserved rest!!!

Sorry this is such a long post, but I'm hoping it might help someone else on their journey of faith :)
