[quote name='StColette' date='Aug 26 2005, 11:46 PM']1.  In times of confusion they direct us. Acts 10:1-11:18
2.  In times of crisis, angels strengthen us.
3.  In times of despair, angels encourage us.
4.  In times of danger, angels protect us.

yeah those are all awesome! I think my friend believes in angels... just has a hard time seeing scripturally that we each specifically have guardian angels. I think a lot of what we believe in guardian angels comes from our tradition... and also, some assumptions from our Jewish forefathers about angels ("sons of God")... but there is not much in scripture about their specific guardianship. Wasn't it St. Basil, St. Gregory, St. Thomas Aquinas that did most of the clarifying for us about guardian angels?

i'm kind of glad my angel does the little things for me, like waking me up in the morning, and smoothing over family disputes... but I think I would totally faint or go be institutionalized if my angel ever appeared in front of me... yikes!

St. Thomas Aquinas did a lot of work about Guardian Angels in the Summa Theologica.

And you're correct our belief in Guardian Angels is both Scriptural and part of Tradition. The Early Church Fathers speak a lot about the guardian angels.

I tried it last night, and I actually woke up at the exact time I wanted too, with no alarm clock. :o

Though I didn't have the strength to stay up.

I'll try it tonight. I need to get up real early tomorrow..hope he/she comes through lol

Another thing I have heard of but haven't tried, asking the souls in purgatory to wake you up. I don't know how and if that works, but a friend of my mom's said she's done it and one time she actually heard a knock on her door which woke her up...and no one was there. hmm..

Haha yeah, same here. I asked Rosa to get me up at 7:30 AM... then I woke up at 7:30 and was like, "uh Rosa... how about uh...10:00 AM"... so she woke me up at 10... and I still slept more than I should have! I have to be careful that my angel doesn't become a snooze button!!

I've got a good story: I was at Steubenville for a conference, and I had just gotten up, still felt tired, and went back to sleep. Right after that, it felt like someone yanked on my toe, and noone was around. Needless to say, that got me up.

when I looked at my alarm clock, it was the same time that I had wanted to get up. The girl next to me had shut off the alarm before I had gotten up. hehe, good to know someone's got my back...

wow! your guardian angel did a good job! I wonder why 6:05 and not 6:00. I wonder if he was kicking you at 6 AM and if it took him like 5 minutes to kick you awake. Or maybe he's like totally in sync with the atomic clock and your clock is off...

There is a book about Padre Pio and his Guardian Angel it is called "Send me your Guardian Angel."

I have my Guardian Angel wake me up sometimes too (when I remember to ask).

I substitute teach :bigclap: part of my day before the children come in is that I'll ask my Guardian Anget to talk to their Guardian Angels and ask them to "help keep control of the classroom." It works, I have been "subbing" for nine years.

I had a job once where a Manager just went out of her way to make fun of me because I am Catholic. I asked her Guardian Angel to get her transferred. Three weeks later she was transferred. I found out later that two of her new bosses were Catholic along with the District Manager. . :rolling:

What I need to do is give my Angel a name. Any suggestions?

My angel has kept me healthy in many times. One example is when I was in fifth grade I was in a hunting accident. I was carrying a gun with a pull back hammer and I scraped up against a tree and the hammer pulled back, shooting myself in the foot. The doctors later told me, any higher in my foot, I would have lost my foot, any where in my lower leg I would have lost my lower leg, and anywhere in the inside of my inner thigh, I wouldn't be here. My guardian angel probably saved my life, many times.

GA's are the best!

God bless-

Ay caramba! What a story!! There's a story I heard about St. John Bosco and an angel that would be a huge dog named Grigio that would help him when he walked alone in the dark because so many people were out to kill him!

Well, I asked my angel what his/her name was... and saw a bunch of things that made me think her name was Rosa. However, there was a post in this thread that said that maybe asking the name was dangerous because of the devil might be out and about. So you could do what some of my friends have done... they've named their angels after a favorite saint or after a friend who has taken care of them in life. :-)
