Nathan
I'm currently in RCIA, and I'm curious about confirmation names. Do we pick the name of a saint? Do some people choose to legally change their names when they are confirmed (similar to how some Muslims change their names upon conversion)? I'm really clueless about the whole thing. Thanks. cappie
There is nothing in the Code of Canon Law or the Rite of Confirmation that suggests that you have to choose another name for your Confirmation. However it is a traditional practice. Some wish to choose the name of a saint if they don't have a biblical name in the first place. I would say be guided by your pastor.
