philothea
Chose the first, but more specifically, I like music that's not too distracting and that I am not expected to sing along with.
Lil Red
the kind that doesn't smell of elderberries. what, isn't that a real answer?
zabbazooey
Yuck. No music at all would be preferable. I can't concentrate on praying!

son_of_angels
Hey, I'll be the first to say I love contemporary worship. I'm not even that opposed to involving contemporary music in the liturgies and the Mass. I have always wished parishes everywhere would have contemporary Benediction and Devotions services so as to show the fulness of faith expressed in the Church. I simply think that the place for such music is in its own context and not within the Mass proper itself (though I would definitely be all about having a Worship service right after Mass, or perhaps even some very soft a capella, or minimally accompanied, contemporary songs at the Entrance, Offertory, or Communion). Nevertheless I don't think people should be closed minded to the use of contemporary settings of the Latin ordinary chants (like the Missa Kenya, that is so awesome). toledo_jesus
I just don't want to go to Mass at Podunk Swamp Catholic Church and listen to the Down Home Cathedral Choir sing "This little light of mine"...
Colleen
I prefer no singing or music. I think that the time during Communion (and directly after) should be a time of silence. Christ is within us and we should be given the chance to listen to what He has to say to us. I find it hard to pray when there is singing and music in the background. Silence is a beautiful thing.
