1337 k4th0l1x0r
Why are you just kidding? Those are great songs. Oh, I guess songs and hymns are different. . . . . I get it. I think. Anyway, I like: All the praise and worship songs we sing in my prayer group. Maybe I should start a praise and worship song thread?
Well, I actually like On Eagles Wings because it is one of those guilty pleasure songs. Real feel-good with a snazzy tune, but it doesn't fit into most liturgies. City of God is bad beacuse choir sings it soooo much and it really is theologically fluffy. I am the Bread of Life I just can't stand because it's sung in the first person from God's perspective.
Thy Geekdom Come
On Eagles Wings City of God I am the Bread of Life
Abbot Primate Marcel Rooney once told us about a seminary applicant who gave him a "hymn portfolio" of hymns he'd written. One of them was literally, "Jesus and me, me and Jesus" over and over again. The Abbot Primate asked what was going on with it. He said, "well, yeah...it was originally about my girlfriend, but she dumped me, so I put Jesus' name in her place." Some hymns...

Be Not Afraid is like that too -from God's perspective. Kinda weird now that I think about it. A lot of Christian rock songs are like that too. Oops! I forgot -hymns! Thank God for Jesus. I miss hymns. (My current church does more contemporary music and not so much old hymns.) Era Might
"On Eagle's Wings" is, well, you know what it is. But I like it nonetheless. It brings me back to the days when I first entered the Church, blessfully ignorant of Liturgical wars. My parish played it every week, and I loved it every week.
